The gap between Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) safety, that will ultimately be achievable with current approaches, and the necessary safety for broad acceptance is the current challenge. While well over 95% of threats imposed by, or imposed on AVs can be anticipated with current approaches - closing the gap is essential. Throwing more compute power and more sensors at the problem are only making the solution expensive, complex, and slow. At Terra we are focused on the gap – detecting unanticipated threats. By leveraging developments in technology, materials, and engineering, we now have a low-cost path to closing the safety gap for both AVs and human driven vehicles.
For example: Our IP (see Vehicle Threat Detection System.pdf) provides an unequivocal method for detecting objects or people based on specific identifying features such as reflectivity, shape, or color. Our unique tagging materials provide unprecedented detection speed, sensitivity, and specificity for sensor enabled vehicles. Tags that can be added to, or incorporated into; clothing, safety vests, vehicles, bicycles, buses, trucks, cars, trains, or traffic and highway signs that will reduce accidents due to unanticipated threats. Terra Scientia envisions a future where CAV safety exceeds all current expectations.
